Beaches are a great spot for many types of activities and occasions. Especially elopements! The beautiful waves of the ocean and the warm sand can make for great pictures. However, with all the amazing things the beach brings to a photo session, there are some things you should consider. The following tips can be helpful to think of when planning/getting ready for a photo shoot at the beach.

Sun Protection

Nothing is worse than being burnt to a crisp by the sun. It hurts like crazy, and it would take some intense editing to make the redness go away in the photos. You can prevent this easily, by putting on some sunscreen before going to the beach. Don’t forget to reapply during the session as well.

What to Wear

Wear clothing that is comfortable and will keep you cool during the shoot. It also should be clothes you don’t mind getting wet and/or dirty. Now when it comes to shoe’s sandals would be the best option. When it’s time to start taking pictures, you can even take off the shoes and go barefoot. It makes a very cute look. You could probably find some cute outfit ideas on Pinterest that tie into the whole beach theme.

Leave Valuables Somewhere Safe

You don’t want your belongings to get wet, broken, or dirty. That’s why it’s best to put them somewhere safe. You can leave your phone, wallet, purse, etc. in your car, or you can leave them somewhere that they can’t be stolen or destroyed.

Don’t be afraid to get in the Water

You can’t expect to go to the beach, and then leave completely dry. Meaning you shouldn’t be afraid to get near the ocean. Not only will it make the experience more fun, it will make some fantastic photos. Just be sure to bring a towel and maybe a change of clothes.

Just Have Fun

The beach is such a great, beautiful, and romantic spot for photos. Just don’t forget to remember to have fun. True fun, excitement, and love are what make memories. Not just fake smiles for the camera.
