What to wear for your Humboldt County Senior Session

What to wear for your Senior Session

After years of lining up with your classmates, taking the same old classic photograph for the traditional high school year book, a chance for change finally occurs.  It’s your senior year, and YOU get to be the one to direct how you want your pictures look!  This photo shoot is more than just a duplicate of years before, this is the opportunity to give some originality, some fun, to convey to the world just how different you are from every other human being!  This is essentially, THE photo shoot that will allow you to express exactly who you are.

What do you wear for the final snap shot that shows the end to one chapter of your life but also shows the beginning of the next one?  First and foremost, is to select the location of where this moment will take place.  You want to choose a spot that stands out, an area that you feel a connection to, one that you can relate to.

Once you have decided on the picture perfect spot, next is the outfit or outfits (if you are only going to do this once, have some fun and choose a few!).  To pick the perfect outfit, you must first determine your undertone.  There are many different shades of skin, but there are only two undertones.  Lucky for us, it’s the undertone that counts, making your next steps much easier!  To pin point your under tone, turn your hand over, palm up, taking a peak at the underside of your wrist.  What color are the veins?  If they look blue or purple, you’re cool toned.  If they look green or have a yellow cast, you’re warm toned.

If you are cool toned, you will look best in “cool” colors like white, black, royal blue, gray, navy etc.  Think of colors that remind you of water, sea and the sky.  When in doubt, you can’t go wrong with any of these.  If you are warm toned, you will look great in “earthy” shades such as burnt orange, cream, sunny yellow, brown, a darker leafy green, and that shade of red maple leaves turn when autumn comes your way.  These colors will always deliver.

Selecting an outfit isn’t just about the clothes you wear, but also the color of your accessories and shoes as well.Details are essential, so don’t be afraid to experiment with various colors to figure out what compliments well together.

As you gear up for the big photo shoot, accessories in place, outfit on point, taking one last look in the mirror, don’t forget that personality!  Although what you wear makes a statement, remember it’s your unique personality that really brings the life into the memories you areabout to capture!
